  1. I’ve made this cake using the Angel food mix and a can of crushed pineapple. Perhaps this cake could be made with applesauce (the equivalentamount of the canned pineapple). Just brainstorming here.

  2. I made apple angel food cake. I took the suggestion and used 1 1/2 cans of apple pie filling. Put sugar and cinnamon on top and baked. Was very good.

  3. I’d really like to try this, looks yummy! I wonder if you spread a part of a can of pie filling in the bottom of the pan, then add the mixture. Hmm thank you!!

  4. I make one similar. I use can of caramel apple usually found in the fall. Put two cans in 9 x 12 pan then add yellow cake mix on top of that I drizzle butter. Cook 350 till brown So Good

  5. I followed original recipe but added Carmel sauce to it. It. Once baked I put a scoop of vanilla ice cream to top it off!! Delicious 🤤🤤🤤🤤

  6. I just made with cherry pie filling and angel food cake. Sprinkled regular sugar on top. So good! Couldn’t wait and ate warm from oven!

  7. Make this other version often! One step angel food cake and can of lemon pie filling. Quick tasty dessert or coffee bars! Looking forward to the apply pieversion!

    1. I used to make one with peaches on the bottom, sprinkle with dry butterbrickle cake mix and 1/2 cup melted butter over top and bake. Yummy!

  8. I used to make the pineapple and angel food cake mix!!! My family loved it!! So glad it works with other kinds of fruit too!! Can’t wait to try it with cherries!! Thanks!!

  9. Just got my cake out of the oven a while ago and it’s such a surprise. It’s not a dump cake, I’ve made many of them and this is far better. It’s the angel food mix that makes it so light and airy. I followed your recipe but didn’t need to add the milk as the batter as it was a good consistency without the milk. Think I’ll try caned peaches next time. Plan to take some to work for a friend there, if any is left 🙂
    Thanks

      1. Yes you add the juice. No matter what you pick (canned fruit in juice, pie filling, fruit purée…the options are limitless) you use the whole can. If the fruit is large (like peach halves) chop it up first.

  10. This sounds great. How well did the cake raise? I noticed when I make it with the pineapple that it makes a difference if I do not grease the pan. Angel food cake seems to need to latch onto the pan sides and when I greased it the cake didn’t raise.???

  11. Is everyone greasing the pan for this angel food cake or is it better not to?
It sounds delicious. Can’t wait to make it.

  12. This kind of sounds like a Dump Cake and generally those require a cup of melted butter over the top before baking. Just a thought. Go for it next time 🤗

  13. I took one full can of apples on the bottom of the pan then placed this recipe on top of it. Didn’t mix them all together, just topped the apple pie mix with the cake mixture in the recipe. Much better with the extra fruit.

  14. I have never cooked with angel food cake mix before. It has come with two separate pouches- angel food cake flour mixture and egg white mixture. Do I use both or just the cake flour mixture? Thanks!

  15. I made this a few weeks ago and was disappointed. It sounded great, but even with extra time in the oven, the middle was mush and the taste was weirdly too sweet…and my family loves sweet. Won’t make again.

  16. I added cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves to the batter. It tastes good but it came out of the oven nice and tall then fell to a very thin cake!! Any ideas what I did wrong?
