Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage sliced
  • 1 pound 500 g ground beef or pork, or a combination
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves coarsely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 can diced tomatoes optional
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish
  • Chili flakes optional

Method

  1. Remove the cabbage core and chop the cabbage into small pieces. Set aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the onion and garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the onion is tender and translucent.
  4. Stir in the paprika and cumin, then season with salt, pepper, and optional chili flakes.
  5. Add the cabbage and cook for 10 to 25 minutes, until tender and the liquid has reduced.
  6. If using diced tomatoes, stir them in and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.

Notes

Use ground beef, pork, or a combination of both. Adjust chili flakes to taste.
