Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage sliced
  • 1 pound 500 g ground beef or pork, or a combination
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves coarsely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 can diced tomatoes optional
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish
  • Chili flakes optional

Instructions

  • Remove the cabbage core and chop the cabbage into small pieces. Set aside.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the onion and garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until the onion is tender and translucent.
  • Stir in the paprika and cumin, then season with salt, pepper, and optional chili flakes.
  • Add the cabbage and cook for 10 to 25 minutes, until tender and the liquid has reduced.
  • If using diced tomatoes, stir them in and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.

Notes

Use ground beef, pork, or a combination of both. Adjust chili flakes to taste.
