Hot apple dumplings

Easy-to-make, pre-made puff pastry croissants and brown sugar apples for special occasions are the stars of this two-in-one morning treat.

* Ingredients:

2 Granny Smith apples, diced

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp. vanilla

12 c. not salted butter, dissolved and cool

1 C. tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 C. 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

5 eggs

1 cup of milk

1/2 cup Original BisquickTM Mix

6 small croissants, torn into small pieces

 

* Steps :

Preheat the oven to 175 ° C (350 ° F). Spray a 33 x 23-cm (13 x 9-inch) baking dish with cooking spray. Put aside.

In a 25-cm (10-inch) skillet, sauté apples in sugar until tender and sugar is caramelized. Add the vanilla and mix. Remove from fire.

While the apples cook, combine the butter with the cinnamon and ginger in a small bowl.

In a great bowl, whisk  eggs and milk. Add Bisqui mixture and butter mixture and beat with a whisk. Add the croissant pieces; let them soak while the apples cook.

When the apples are ready, add the apple mixture to the croissants that are being soaked. Stir to mix. Pour into the baking dish.

Bake for 45 minutes. Serve hot.
