How to make Classic Southern Meatloaf

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 375 degrees F or 190.5 degrees C.

Step 2: Using aluminum foil, line a baking sheet, then set aside.

Step 3: Place the meatloaf ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix using a spatula and finish mixing using your hands to make sure everything is well combined.

Step 4: To the prepared baking sheet, transfer the meat mixture and shape it into a loaf using your hands.

Step 5: To make the glaze, whisk the glaze ingredients in a small mixing bowl using a whisk until the colour resembles a barbecue sauce with a nit of orange hue.

Step 6: Onto the meatloaf, spoon half of the glaze, and spread it on top using a bush. Keep the other half of the glaze aside for now.

Step 7: Into the preheated oven, place the meatloaf and bake for an hour. Once the timer beeps, remove the meatloaf from the oven and brush the rest of the glaze on top. Return the meatloaf into the oven and resume baking for another 15 minutes or until done.

Step 8: Take the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a serving platter. Carve the meatloaf into 1-inch pieces, then serve alongside your favorite side dish. Enjoy!

Tips:

For a moist and flavorful meatloaf, use higher fat ground beef like ground chuck.

For the best result, cook the meatloaf on a sheet pan.

You can omit the onion or bell pepper if desired.
